The story begins with a preamble about a Brunei official and his man-servant arriving in China during the late Ming dynasty only to be robbed at knife point. In their escape, they met a group of former soldiers who were under the command of general Yuan Chong Huan. Yuan Chong Huan had been put to death by the emperor unjustly and his men wanted to avenge his death. Li Zi Cheng had sent an envoy to meet these men in hope that they will aid his rebellion against the emperor. This effectively sets the historical backdrop of the story and introduces Yuan Cheng Zhi, Yuan Chong Huan’s son and hero of the story, as a young teenager with basic martial arts skills but with great potential. Yung Hung is the madam of a brothel, which experiences hijinks when a new girl is brought in. Meanwhile, Kent Cheng spies on Yung bathing. Still, it's all good because Cheng bears unrequited love for Yung, which is a plot point that fails to make the film any better. Tsui Kam-Kong makes his usual appearance, which means halfway through the film to rape Yung Hung. Ugh. This piece of crap might deserve more derision if it weren't so incredibly uninteresting. If you need a Category III fix, there are a variety of other skanky features with which to occupy your time. Or, you could take up a new hobby, like fly fishing. (Kozo 1996)

Bhoothnath tells the story of a ghost inside a swanky, neglected, uninhabited house in Goa. The ghost named Kailash Nath (Amitabh Bachan) is in limbo, and he won’t let anyone live inside the house, Nath Villa, to which his fond memories are attached. But then comes a family of Banku [actual name: Aman Sharma in the movie] (Aman Siddiqui), his kitchen-shy mom (Juhi Chawla) and slap-happy dad (Shah Rukh Khan) to live in the house.

The ghost has the plan of scaring the family away. But he runs into the notorious 7 year old Banku who mistakes the ghost as an angel and befriends him.

Thereby begin the funny antics of Banku and Bhoothnath.
